A diagnostic procedure called cardiac catheterization produces in-depth radiographic images of the heart and its blood arteries. Angiograms are the name for the images created with contrast dye during this operation. It is possible to conduct interventional procedures to address any concerns concurrently. An interventional cardiologist is a type of cardiologist with specialised training in cardiac catheterizations. The catheterization laboratory, sometimes known as the "cath lab," is a dedicated space where these procedures are carried out in hospitals. The cardiologist examines the child's heart and arteries using an x-ray camera and a TV monitor (screen) in the cath lab. Usually taking two to three hours, a paediatric or adult congenital catheterization procedure takes longer than an adult coronary catheterization procedure.
